Open Hearth

The Hearth

Green 26

Open Hearth provides a time and place for peace and quiet contemplation.  You are welcome to come into the Hearth space at any time during this session, to stretch, meditate, pray, write, draw, digest some of your Limmud experience, or simply rest.  When you have finished, just leave the space as you found it, or even lovelier than before!

The book Daniel: an insurrectionary text

Shira Solomons

Red 4

Who really didn’t see the writing on the wall? Why isn’t Daniel considered to be a prophet? And what’s it all got to do with Chanukah? Let’s get beyond the children’s story, look at the text and its history, and discover much deeper lessons about the limits of power, the power of faith, and the faith to remain Jewish in a non-Jewish world.

The life of a married monk

Nechama Goldman Barash

Red 9 (Boulevard)

We will learn seven stories about men who go away to study Torah for many years and return to find that everything has changed. After using a literary technique to read the stories as a carefully edited unit, we will see that these stories are relevant to readers today as people struggle to find the proper work-family-life balance.
