Morning Seder - Advanced Level (1 of 4)

Jeremy Tabick  _ Beit Midrash

Red 8

The Torah forbids Jews from eating milk and meat together, but so much cheese is literally made from a mixture of meat and milk. How can cheese ever be kosher? Why might non-Jewish cheese be prohibited regardless of the ingredients? We'll explore this issue through the Talmud and Rishonim to see whether Jews can even eat cheese at all.

Morning Seder - Beginner Level (1 of 4)

Lindsey Taylor-Guthartz  _ Beit Midrash

Red 9 (Boulevard)

Over the course of Limmud we will investigate a passage of Mishnah, with some Gemara, that explores Jewish attitudes to using parts of non-Jewish culture to regulate Jewish existence - in our case, the use of the reigns of non-Jewish kings to date Jewish documents. How do we negotiate living in two cultures at once?

Morning Seder - Intermediate Level (1 of 3)

Joel Levy  _ Beit Midrash

Red 8

Over the course of Limmud we will explore a page of Talmud with deep contemporary resonance. The Torah designates the death penalty for blasphemy but should that apply equally to Jews and non-Jews? A Talmudic case study in co-existence - how should other people relate to what we hold sacred?
