Innovative for its time, we will explore the impact of Lewando’s book, and use it as a conversation piece to explore the role of food in Jewish tradition, and resistance during political change.

After the Ashkenazim left this area of the city, the place was abandoned and began deteriorating. Today, it has been restored and is a vibrant cultural space open to the general public. In the USA, 57% of Jews who marry do so to a person who isn't Jewish. In the UK, the rate is lower: 26%. Still, 1 in 4 British Jews are in love with somebody who isn't Jewish. In this session, led by a rabbinical student who is in an interfaith relationship, we will envision a world where members of that 1 in 4 are fully empowered in Jewish spaces.
