Make your parents happy and bring home a lovely Adam or Eve. There’ll be quick-fire rounds to meet more Jews than you can swipe on a Saturday night. This will be opposite-gender speed dating.

The colour of Jews in a white Australia

Sarah Charak

Red 5

From the start of colonisation, Anglo-Australian Jews aligned themselves with ‘white Australia’, but as persecuted Jews began to flee Russia, Jewish racial desirability came into question. We will explore the ambivalent and conditional positioning of Jews in the white/non-white dichotomy of 19th and 20th century Australia.

The paradox of piety: can observing Torah lead to chillul Hashem (desecration of God's name)?

Samuel Millunchick

Orange 13

The Torah instructs us to sanctify God's name, yet can strict adherence inadvertently desecrate it? Explore the balance of halachic commitment and the risks of chillul Hashem. Join us as we explore the delicate balance between devout observance on the one hand and its potential implications for God's reputation in the world on the other.
