This session will draw on Jewish and non-Jewish post-Holocaust texts to explore themes of the banality of evil, the aesthetics of fascism and the ethics of representation. From one banned book (the graphic novel Maus) to another (the infamous Lolita and its filmic adaptations), we will consider: who gets to write about the Holocaust and how?

There isn’t a scroll that we read on Chanukah nowadays - but there used to be! And it was quite different. This traditional text, Megilat B'ney Chashmonay (the Scroll of the Children of the Hasmoneans), also known as Megillat Antiochus, used to be read in Italy, Yemen and elsewhere on Shabbat Chanukah. Find out about the process of creating a new tikun (copyist's guide) using over 20 sources from the 13th century onwards.

There will be colouring sheets available, as well as a group brainstorm about our own wellbeing, and tips on how to stay happy and healthy throughout Festival.
