"Is Anybody Home?"

Michael Hattin

Red 4

Why do we pray, when, who is our focus, what is our goal? There is no single answer to these questions. In this session, we will look closely at a prayer "origin story" found in the Talmud. We will examine why we pray and what we pray about, as we explore the tensions between the individual and community, set liturgy and spontaneity.

I have invited Corbyn to Limmud

Adam Wagner  Gary Sinyor

Orange 10

My comedy series 'Hapless' highlights the mess British Jews and non-Jews are in - when it comes to that word antisemitism. Those in power within our community repeat the same arguments. I have invited Jeremy Corbyn to Limmud with the suggestion that an intelligent Jewish audience at Limmud would give him a fair/logical hearing. Not heard back yet.

Psychedelics and Jewish spiritual practice

Madison Margolin

Red 5

Can psychedelics bring us back to our souls and spirituality? Through the flow of energies in the Hebrew calendar, Judaism can engender altered states endogenously, offering a container or 'set and setting' for substance-assisted psychedelic states. Come on a journey exploring the role of altered consciousness in Jewish practice.
