In 2010, Maurice first presented his session 'Heeb-hop: a history of Jewish hip hop”. It went on to more Limmud events and was also presented in selected Manchester schools, via UJIA (the United Jewish Israel Appeal). Since then, hip hop celebrated its 50th and so many more young Jews have become part of the story. Nu, come hear the updated story and celebrate Heeb’s bar mitzvah!

In order to participate, performers will have to attend smaller sessions of heats. The heats will be used to organise performers into categories, and to create the final order of performance. All abilities welcome!

On Yom Kippur, 6th October 1973, Israel faced surprise simultaneous attacks from the Egyptian army across the Suez Canal and the Syrian army on the Golan Heights. Graphic images are shown of Israel's gallant defence and counter-attacks in savage tank battles in the Sinai Desert and the Golan with the Syrian army destroyed in the 'Valley of Tears'.

Traditional Hebrew poetry is filled with clever references to Torah, Tanach (Bible) and rabbinic literature. Can you find them? Using Sephardic poems for Sukkot, all themed around numbers, come and enjoy the challenge in facilitated pairs. Sheets will be available for adults, and for kids to work on with parents. And of course we'll sing them too!

Come and join our Bibliodrama (no acting required!) where we'll retell the story of Rivka who as a plucky teenager left home to start a new life with a family which was... um... complicated. You don't need any drama experience, just a good imagination and a readiness to travel back in time.
