If you’re wondering where the asterisk leads, this one’s for you. How can we identify overthinking, where does it serve us in life, and how can it hold us back? We’ll look at Ecclesiastes sources and commentaries, dip into some other works and pop culture, and discuss.

All LGBT+ Jews are warmly invited to join us at our LGBT+ social space at Limmud. This is a safe space where LGBT+ Jews (including but not limited to lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, asexual, intersex, questioning and more) can come and meet each other. This will be a relaxed space to hang out and socialise, with board games available.

Paul Klee was the most prolific German expressionist artists, with a playful and imaginative output. Exiled as "that Galician Jew" by the Nazis, but who then sadly developed the nastiest immune disorder (one I devoted much of my career to researching!) and who charted his declining health in his increasingly evocative drawings, as you will see!

Come join a meditative singing circle led by a voice teacher and fat activist. We’ll warm up our voices, sing some songs, and learn about how singing can be a body positive practice of radical acceptance. (No prior singing or self-acceptance experience necessary.)

In this fast-paced session, participants, individually or in teams, will present a thought, idea, or theory on a Jewish topic in just 3 minutes. The aim is to share something meaningful concisely and impactfully. Afterward, there will be time for discussion and feedback. Preparing a pitch or slide in advance is recommended but not mandatory.

To make Aliyah from Germany in 1930s, it helped to have skills in agriculture. The Orthodox movement, Bachad (The Alliance of Religious Pioneers) made this their main business – until the 1938 Kristallnacht pogroms, which forced a change of location: Britain became Bachad’s centre of operations until 1962 – a fascinating, but little-known history.

The ICJ ruled that Palestine has a right to exercise self determination. Israel sets aside international law with US support guaranteed by the voting block of Evangelical Christian groups, some of whom believe in the Rapture at the end of the world. Isreal's response to the ruling is reviewed together with debate within Evangelical groups.

David Miller was fired because he held "Zionists" responsible for funding Islamophobia, said Jewish schools are advocates for ethnic cleansing and UJS is a pawn for a violent, racist, foreign regime. Was he the man who survived cancel culture or a virulent antisemite or both? Why did he win his Employment Tribunal claim? What are the underlying legal principles? Can you challenge anti-Zionist beliefs at work or academia?

Although the history of British trade unionism has been shaped by its Jewish activists, the modern day movement could not be more different, with many Jews now feeling unwelcome in left wing spaces. Take a look behind the scenes of the country's largest trade union as one Jewish activist decided to challenge this new normal.

Reading a text from the Babylonian Talmud and another from the New Testament, we will ask ourselves what they have in common and what they can tell us about how Judaism began. We will also discuss how the two texts differ, and what that can tell us about how religious leadership is established and maintained.

Retired judges increasingly court controversy by sitting in places like Hong Kong and writing high profile letters, articles, giving legal advice and writing memoirs and publishing diaries. Is this desirable? Should they be regulated? These and other issues are engaging public debate and will be discussed.

I will share some texts, but this will be an open discussion in what I hope will be a safe space about theological and spiritual issues arising when we have killed thousands of innocents in the name of self defense after having been brutally and barbarically attacked on October 7th (and not only). What brings the sword into the world?
