The aim is to share something meaningful concisely and impactfully. Afterward, there will be time for discussion and feedback. Preparing a pitch or slide in advance is recommended but not mandatory.

October 7 and the ensuing war have been the greatest blows to the Negev since the inception of the state. Some question whether the Negev will be a desired location or whether people will flock to the center. Chaim Hames believes David Ben-Gurion's vision of the Negev is more relevant than ever.

In the Book of Judges we learn that Yiftah sacrifices his daughter to God. The story itself is ambiguous and ethically problematic. We’ll look closely at the text (mostly in English), at other Biblical parallels, similar stories in Western mythology and some visual art. We will discuss the story in context and from a 21st century perspective.
