Oliver is a BRCA carrier, his grandmother, mother and sister passed away from cancer. He had Hodgkins Disease, not a genetic cancer aged 17 years. After his little sister passed at 29 years, Oliver began advocating on BRCA. Oliver is a dad to 3 children who were born by IVF-PGD, successfully freeing them from the faulty BRCA gene.

His daughter's talk is based on his secret wartime diaries which graphically recorded the deprivations of Changi camp, the harrowing experiences of the POWs on the notorious Burma railway and, despite it all, the Jewish life that flourished there.
