Hot off their successful Edinburgh Fringe run, newlywed musical comedy duo Couplet tells the hilarious true story of the queer Jewish wedding that almost didn’t happen. “There’s nothing they can’t sing and laugh their way through!” (New York Times). “Compulsively watchable!” (Jewish Chronicle). “Amazing, heartwarming stuff.” (Starburst)

Fiddling while Eastern Europe burns...

Eva Frojmovic

Orange 10

In this session, prompted by 'Fiddler on the Roof' on tour and in light of the recent Cambridge production of the real Fiddler on the Roof, Sholem Aleichem's Stempenyu, I'd like to share some of my research into the movement of Eastern European Jewish culture to the west since the October Revolution.

From Sarah to today: fertility and infertility in in Jewish life

Sarah Sharman Moser

Red 5

LGBTQ Jewish pop icons: from Dana International to Troye Sivan

Ruvi Ziegler  David Bilchitz

Red 3

In Israel and the diaspora, leading Jewish musical icons have ‘come out’ as LGBTQ. Whether through mainstreaming an out-and-proud message or through unashamedly pushing aesthetic boundaries, they are transforming their societies’ cultural scene. This interactive audio-visual session will compare and contrast the artists’ trajectories and influences.

'Nobody Wants This': rabbi-ing while intermarried

Lex Rofeberg

Red 2

On 26 September 2024, Netflix launched the series 'Nobody Wants This'. On 27 September 2024, Lex Rofeberg received a dozen texts saying, roughly, 'Netflix made a show about you!' Come discuss this popular (and controversial) TV show - and its explorations of interfaith relationships - with a rabbi who's been happily intermarried for eight years.

Scan, keep, cull, recycle or bin - reflections from a year of clearing

Helen Lewis

Blue 34

This year I have been sorting the papers and photographs of both sides of our family, going back to the early 1900s. What can we learn from them? How do we address the new 'kashrut' of sorting and when do we just have to be brave and use the bin? I will share some things that we have kept and what we have let go. This will be an informal session.

Silent disco

Chlo Spinks

Red 7

The silent disco returns once more! This time... with new DJs. Expect only the best, from disco to punk to pop classics and the introduction of the mysterious unused third channel (what will it be?).

The 13 Principles of Faith updated - Israel 2025

Chaim Hames

Orange 11

Maimonides is most famously known for defining the essential beliefs of Judaism in 13 principles. With the foundation of Israel, are these principles still relevant? Perhaps they need updating? We will look at 13 new principles and think together about the significance and place of Judaism in the diaspora and in Israel.
