ADHD, Jewish identity and the art of not belonging

Phil Cohen

Blue 34

This session explores the emotional experience of thinking about getting an assessment for ADHD in life and how that might connect with Jewish identity and the feeling of never quite belonging. We will explore these issues through personal reflection and gentle prompts. No prior knowledge is required just a willingness to reflect.

Adventures of a criminal lawyer with a Jewish link

Paul Harris

Orange 12

Paul Harris has been a criminal solicitor for 35 years. He has acted in many high-profile cases. Hear some stories with a Jewish link including, but not limited to, a criminal justice Purim miracle, advising the Jewish lawyer accused of agitating by wearing a Star of David, advising the man accused of threatening behaviour by displaying a satirical banner with a pager on it and dealing with the police.

Cruising is a complex subject

Malcolm Ginsberg

Green 25

Fancy a cruise? Sea or river? Completely different. UK or fly? Big ship or small one? With or without children? We will talk kosher too and reveal the cruise line that offers kosher food at no extra charge but refuses a Friday night Jewish service. And pricing is a jungle. We have all been caught out by it.

Did Saint Augustine save Judaism?

Joshua Garroway

Red 4

In a famous quip, Moses Mendelssohn credited none other than St Augustine with preserving Judaism through the ages. What did he mean by it? Come learn how Christian thinking about Jews and Judaism has changed over time - how it’s led to Jewish anguish, but perhaps to Jewish survival as well!

Living waters, moving currents: creating new meaning in mikveh practice

Talia Rasiel

Red 5

Not just for niddah! In this session, we will explore how the Open Mikveh Movement has reclaimed and reinvented one of Judaism's most ancient practices, expanding beyond niddah (menstrual 'purity') to embrace this ritual rooted in spiritual transition. Then, we will craft our own rituals for the mikveh (Jewish ritual bath), merging tradition with new possibilities for spiritual expression.
