Bring me to Light: Our journey with bipolar disorder

An interactive presentation and talk by Eleanor Mandelstam and Mike Segall on their life living with bipolar disorder. Being father and daughter, their journeys interwove when both were diagnosed within years of each other. Eleanor and Mike promote talking, healing, recovery, fighting stigma and living positively. Eleanor wlll talk about her book.

Caring with presence: the laws of bikur cholim (visiting the sick)

By the time Rabbi Sabato Morais of Livorno, arrived in Phiadelphia in 1851, slavery was an established institution and the United States would soon fight a Civil War (1861-1865) that claimed 750,000 lives. Preacher, educator, supporter of social causes, community builder and much more, come hear the impact he had on 19th century American Judaism.

Roma: a Mexican neighbourhood with the aroma of Turkish coffee

"Roma", the Oscar-winning movie, is set in the Mexican neighborhood of the same name which was also the home of many Jewish families from the Arab countries. There, they recreated their traditions amidst the French-style buildings. Today, they are remembered with nostalgia.

Mark Gertler: "inside out - an ecstasy of destruction"
