Courts around the world are granting ‘human’ rights to trees, rivers and other pieces of the environment, letting them sue polluters to protect themselves. But could this happen in a halakhic framework? Can a tree conduct litigation? Can a tree appoint lawyers? Sources from the Mishnah to the Israeli Supreme Court will be explored in this session.
