Chava Mirel and Daniel Cainer in Concert

Chava Mirel  Daniel Cainer

Room 16

Chava is one of the leading lights in North American Jewish music. Daniel is a multi-award winning songwriter and musical storyteller. Over lockdown they have been collaborating, with Daniel in London, Chava in Seattle. Beautiful music full of heart, joy and great humour (and a big hit at last year's Limmud). Enjoy them as they trade songs and stories.

Cops in clubs: Policing, violence and the rights of Jewish women

Rachel Vogler

Room 12

A few weeks after the murder of Sarah Everard, the Government announced intentions to send plain-clothed police officers into nightclubs, under the guise of ‘women’s safety’. We’ll consider the impact that increased policing has on the rights and freedoms of women in the UK. Will cops in clubs really make women feel safer?

Dance tours of Israel - learn about Israel and dance!

Maurice Stone

Room 11

When Covid stopped Israel Tour for young people, the UK Israeli Dance Institute produced three dance tours of Israel combining the Tour experience of youth movements with an opportunity to learn dances which provided a connection to Israel. This session will sample some of the touring and some of the dances taught so you can watch and learn.

Rabbi Joseph Albo: The forgotten philosopher

Daniel Anderson

Room 13

Rabbi Joseph Albo’s 'Sefer Ha-Ikkarim' (Book of Principles) is one of the last great systems of medieval Jewish philosophy. Embedded within this complex but fascinating work are his original interpretations of certain biblical incidents. In this session we will consider two of them: Cain’s murder of Abel, and Moses’ sin at Meribah.

Voices and images of the South Wales Jewish communities

John Minkes

Room 14

The Jewish communities of South Wales date back to the 1740s but are now in decline. The Jewish History Association of South Wales aims to preserve the communities' heritage by recording oral histories and identifying tangible evidence. We have also set up heritage trails and researched the stories of members' families who died in the Holocaust.

We share the same sky: From one generation to the next

Rachael Cerrotti

Room 15

This multimedia session will explore the inheritance of memory and how we tell the stories of our grandparents. Rachael will focus on her grandmother’s experience surviving the rescue of the Danish Jews and why this specific moment in her wartime history was so important for her to pass down to the next generation.
