Room 2
This session outlines the contribution of Litvinoff's book, 'Journey Through a Small Planet', to the development of nascent Yiddisher psychogeography. It suggests that his approach allowed confrontation and challenge to the 'high Anglo' antisemitism of TS Eliot, initiating a debate that has continued relevance for contemporary Jewish identity.
Room 5
Rachel's grandfather, Ewen Montagu, was the Intelligence Officer behind the spectacular Operation Mincemeat, written up as 'The Man Who Never Was': a corpse dropped in the sea with false files who saved the Allied invasion of Sicily. It inspired a musical and two films. Using his letters and her memories, Rachel will describe Ewen’s fascinating wartime career.
Room 6

We'll see how this question has reverberated throughout Jewish history and how its answer is key to understanding Jewish peoplehood today.
